#Humancad Mannequin 1.1
6 messages in this thread
Is anyone familiar with the Mannequin software, can these figures be
animated and otherwise manipulated in 3dstudio? I'm a procss engineering
consultant and a fairly new user of AutoCad and 3dstudio. I'm quite
intersted in exploring electronic 3d design possibilities and these figures
seem like they could be useful.
Thanks for your time,
Jeff
Jeff:
A Mannequin model (50PMAN) is included with 3DS. So, yes, Mannequin
figures can be animated in 3DS.

Thanks for the info- I haven't seen 50PMAN yet but i've still got lots of
3ds to explore! I'll check him out.

Contact Dave Hawkins at DVK 1.408.436.0100 for information on humans
created in and for 3DS by Thomas Knight. The are nothing short of
spectacular! The hierarchial linking is complete and there are many styles
and degrees of dress, they have male and females movable hands as options,
and they will do custom work.
If you need people in your scenes these models are the bargain of
the century in my (humble, of course<g>) estimation. Good luck.

Thanks for the info I'll call DVK

The trouble with Mannequin is that you can't send the figures through a
sequence and record them in the correct format. I tried to use Mannequin
to study the movement. The record funtion in mannequin strings still
images together into a fli file.
My contacts who use Mannequin have all relinked the figures themselves. In
some ways I like Mannequin better than 3DS for creating simple procedures.
Their handling of three dimensions is Soooooooooooo much easier to
comprehend.
If you haven't got Mannequin a word of warning – it is very particular
about which memory managers you use – I tried about six different releases
before I ended up with EMM386 doing the job.
