#big file problem

I am running into a minor problem I am wanting to render to a null driver
and at a resolution of 5100X3300. I keep getting a "Can't Allocate image
buffer" when i try to render it. I can render 2000X2000 just fine but in
this case I need 5100X3300 also what Aspect should I use when rendering
this file. I have 32 megs of ram. I have 2 megs reserved for ani pro
usingcfug386 [D [D [Dthanks,

Rock, just a single buffer at that resolution requires over 50Mb, let alone
geometry, shadow maps, texture maps, rescaling backgrounds, ipas routines,
etc etc. It sounds like you need another trip back to the memory
management/usage section of the Installation Guide!

Well I just relized that I was rendering to my C: drive and not to my
larger D drive. However i let it render over the night and when i got back
it told me t "no ram for Bitmap". The hard drive has over 500 megs free and
I have 32 megs of ram. I thought that its supposed to page to a hard drive
if there is not enou enough room. Do I have to tell it to page? Thanks,
Rock
Take a look at "Using CFIG386.EXE" in the Installation and Performance
Guide, on page 67. Specifically, the -swapdir parameter on page 70. If
you're running 3ds from drive C:, it'll use that drive as the swap drive,
as a default. Sounds like you need to change your swap drive to D: (or get
a lot more RAM).
