Wayne, Thanks as always for your input. I'm still having trouble with compiling with Afega. When using the command, I get no activity at all, so after a while I hit "enter". Then I get a message that says "Some movie. Only two frames." This is the same problem I had last year on my old machines, and somehow we fixed it with the EGASHADE.bat and the proper configuration. If I try to project the two frame movies I get red horizontal dashes on the screen. The renderings show as EGA when I read them with READRND.EXE but they just will not compile. Here are the batch files I have tried. (From page 38 of the PIP project) EGASHADE.bat SET SHADECFG=C:\SHADE2\EGA SET SHADE=C:\SHADE2\RMANSUPT SET shadeRDfile=320,200,10000,13100,256,63,64 SET RIPROGRESS=1 C:\SHADE2\SHADE %1 %2 When configuring AutoSHADE I have chosen option 4 for display and rendering devces every time (EGA choice). I have tried to use a hardcopy rendering device of 256 colors and continuous colors. I have tried rendering with record on, then hardcopy on. I have tried with hardcopy rendering device of #5, none. I have also tried editing line 3 of the EGASHADE.bat as follows- SET shadeRDfile=640,318,2053,2707,256,15,16 (as per p. 31 in AutoSHADE installation and performance guide) SET shadeRDfile=640,318,2053,2707,16,15,16 (wild guess – somewhere in the manuals I read that Afega only understands 16 colors) SET shaderDDfile=640,318,2053,2707,256,15,16 and SET shaderDDfile=320,200,1000,13100,256,63,64 I think I have tried the EGASHADE.bat every way mentioned above with every combination of configuration of AutoSHADE ega with hardcopy rendering devices. I have not tried ADI drivers, but I shouldn't have to, should I? I am confused about the ShaderDDfile (double d) you mentioned, because none of the manuals show a double d. Nothing I have tried works. Please send Kleenex. Thanks again, Tommie

Hi Tommie, sorry your troubles continue. Unfortunately you keep catching up to me (or is that vice versa?) in airports, where I am again now, but let me take another run at it here. First, go check up on my clue about the strange spelling for the SHADERDFILE setting. Check in the PIP or Theme Project instructions to see how it is spelled there. I know for sure this is done correctly in the PIP project (i wrote 'em!). However, my internal hard disk has had a LOT of data added to it since then so I can't recall just what the correct spelling is. I can tell you that we had a LOT of people having difficulty with the spelling of this setting parameter. Unfortunately I am working strictly from memory (and at 4:25am) and as anyone who knows me, my memory is a very dangerous place! Re the settings themselves, you are likely mixing up the settings for resolution of files for Animator which must be 320x200x256 and those for AFEGA which MUST BE 640x480x16 only! What does READRND tell you the resolution of these files are? You might also check out the .cfg files. Try deleting the .cfg file that is in \SHADE2\EGA and then fire up AutoShade again with the EGA bat file, do the config for EGA and proceed. I won't be near the information I need to get you a better answer for some time now, so I hope someone else jumps in here or you can put a message through here to Alan Kalamja and he can help you out. He wrote the Theme Project. I'll go leave him a message here too. Can you also give me your phone #? You didn't leave it with your original voice mail and I don't have it with me from the past. I will call you when I get the fix for you. wayne PS. I assume the old machines that you had this working on are gone so you can't go check out their .cfg and .bat files?? (just thought I would check and you are too far away to hit me if I am insulting you!) <g>
