My NEC 83J which came with my MediaVisions Pro Audio kit has apparently died. I tried to use a cleaner, as I saw where one of my CDROM mags indicated that that could be the source of a problem. But, I cannot get past a CDR101: Drive Not Ready message. This is true in DOS. Windows just gets some error that it doesn't understand. I had this happen a couple of times then the drive worked once. Any suggestions? Is it warranty time? Any suggestions, please email me. thanks. Lou

Have you tried it on a different machine or with a different host adapter? If all else fails call NEC at (800)-FONE-NEC.

I had an internal NEC drive that failed also. I'm not sure why but my computers fan was sucking a lot of air through it, and it was getting pretty dusty inside. Now I am using a CDR-74 external. -Mitch
