Tony, the PAS-16 only comes with a SCSI interface. I'm not sure about the package you refer to, but I bought a kit from MediaVison which contained the following: NEC CDR-84J PAS-16 sound card Comptons MM encyclopedia Action! (an out dated version) Kings Quest V One of those Nautalus CDs Mine also had a card you could send in for Carmen Sandiego I just picked up a kit from NEC. The Multimedia Galley contents: NEC CDR-74 PAS-Plus sound card Special cable with audio in/out,MIDI,joy,SCSI Labtec powered speakers Labtec Headphones New Grolier Encyclopedia Guinness Disc of Records Great Wonders of the World Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Sherlock Holmes Carmen Sandiego Deluxe I had to return my MediaVision kit because the CDR-84 quit working. While trying to figure out the problem I notice that a lot of air was being sucked through the drive by the fan in the computer, and that dust was begining to build up inside the drive. I decided then to get an external drive, thus the NEC kit. I have heard that some drives have a plastic wrapping around them to prevent this. Although I originally leaned heavily toward the internal variety, I like the connectivity and no-suck-windity of the external drive. The PAS-16 has nice specs but a lot of background noise. I've heard another PAS-16 and it had the same problem. It actually has Sound Baster compatible hardware on board (They got sued over this one) with seperate DMA and IRQ settings. It's like two cards in one. The PAS-Plus is less spectacular in it hardware capability, but seems to exhibit less background noise. It is also much less SoundBlaster compatible as far as I can tell. Creative Labs has a 16 bit sound card due out soon, but I don't know what [>> Continued in next msg]
