QB5.0.2 Problems – Help!

I'm having a problem with QB 5.0.2:
I downloaded the patches to fix the bugs in 5.0 and they reported
successful. When I loaded the program, the program name was shown as
Quarterback 5.0.2, so I assume that the patches were indeed successful.
I tried to test the program by trying to back up a "test" subdirectory, but
after I had set all the options and went back to the main screen, the
program seems to have locked up. The manual makes reference to a "Start"
button, which I've never seen, so I clicked on the "Proceed" button – but
nothing happens. When I tried to exit the program (via both the menu and
the "close" button, the program seems to have locked up. However, I can
still bring open windows to the front, but there are no icons in them.
Can anyone explain the problem – most probably I'm doing something wrong –
or is there another bug?
I'm running on an A-500 with A-501, a Bodega Bay expansion unit in which I
have installed a GVP Series II HD+8 controller for a Quantum 105 LPS HD and
2 megs of RAM as well as an A2286 Bridgeboard.
Any info would be appreciated, as I want to backup my HD before installing
DOS 2.04. Thanks.

Mary,
We have no knowledge of any potential bugs that might manifest themselves
in this manner. Things to check:
Does the "test" directory contain any files named *
What controller and device do you have chosen in backup options for the
destination.
Do you have a mountlist entry for the PLT: device that ships with some
of the cad and drawing programs
These are my initial thoughts on this problem.

Randy, thanks for answering my plea for help re QB5.0.2.
I discovered the solution to my problem yesterday and wanted to pass it on
to you in case other people experience what I did:
I was running a pd program called "Silence", which stops the clicking on my
floppy drive. Once I disabled it, QB ran beautifully and I was able to do
my test backup (and restore it), after which I did a full backup before I
installed DOS 2.0.5.
I'm now in the process of configuring and will do another full backup under
2.x, so I'm all set. I appreciate your efforts to help me, and hope that
my experience with "Silence" might help another user who may be having
problems.
