Hi Lou.
I was going back through some of my old CIS filecabinet stuff and came
across your reply to my questions.
BTW, I called about Desktop Video World and asked about subscriptions.
They said to watch the Dec. issue of Amiga World for an ad offering and
order for the first issue. The first issue of DVW will then have
subscription info in it. (Hmm… is that a form of indirect addressing?)
Anywho, to my main purpose… Regarding the EVO 9650. I'm REAL close to
plopping down some $$ for one. Most of the feedback that I've gotten on
using it for Lightwave animations has been positive.
Your msg mentioned something called the Transporter. What id it?
Software/Hardware? I had the impression (from who knows where) that all
you needed is a Toaster, the EVO-9650, and a serial cable. No Amilink or
that kind of thing needed. Right? Wrong?
ANY info would be appreciated!

I too have had the Transporter recommended to me, for the benefits of
sequential frame grabbing, etc. But, all you need to render animations are
the Toaster, the 9650, a serial cable, and a null modem adapter.
It works. Quickly, quietly, with quality.

P.S. What kind of quality degradation do you see when you dub a Hi-8 (EVO
9650) master down to SVHS or VHS (for distribution to the rest of the
consumer world <g>)??

All you have to have for Lightwave is the 9650, the toaster and a null
modem cable. Just enter some codes into the record requestor and away you
go.
The Transporter is software from Amazining COmputers and Video , a FL based
company. It allows you to do a fair amount of very useful aniation work,
controling various decks and 24 bit cards…

I just got the Transporter s/w and it is very helpful, now I just
have to get a BCD 2000 and I'll be ready to go. I'm using it mainly
for file conversions but hope to be doing single frame soon. Its
taking a while to get the hang of but it can be very powerful.
But knowledge of cli, AREXX, and general hacking abilities are
necissary IMHO. You don't get much help from the docs!!!
A new vers. is coming out soon and its supposed to be alot more
of a 2.0 feel. Not sure what else. Tech Support seems to be very
good by phone.
