I went ahead and applied the "beta" patches for GPFax and all seems well. I figured if it didn't work, I could just re-install the unpatched version.

Hi, From what I read, you really shouldn't experience much in the way 'problems' by applying the various patches around. The authors of GPFax are quite active on Usenet/Internet and apparently are initially distributing patches from there to various FTP sites. It is their software and they can do what they terms of updating their product. This is not to say that the pates meet Supra's specs tho. Supra simply stated on their BBS that the current patches available do not bring GPFAX in exact accordance with the new Supra ROM's and that Supra was working with the authors of GPFax to bring about a patch that would do the job. If you look into Supra's file base on their BBS, all GPFax patches seem to have been removed. I take this to be a subtle cautionary warning from Supra. How anyone else might interpret that action is strictly in the 'eyes of the beholder', so to speak. Jeff

Hi, There have been some questions concerning my warning about the various patches around for GPFax software. Here are two of postings on Supra's BBS (503-967-2444) from the SYSOPs (Tech Service Dept.) on there. Read into them what you will, I'll take them as a caveat to avoid applying the patches for now. *********************************************************************** Msg#:10778 *AMIGA* 10-21-92 05:43:52 From: SYSOP To: XXXXXX Subj: REPLY TO MSG# 10129 (GPFAX PATCH) We will put it up once what we are receiving from Greg works. As of yet we have not received a patch which fixes the problems. Mark Msg#:13955 *AMIGA* 11-09-92 11:46:38 From: SYSOP To: XXXXXX Subj: REPLY TO MSG# 13199 (GPFAX UPDATE) Use caution! Supra has not yet received a completed, non-Beta, patch to update the Supra verison (2.01s) of GPFAX. We are waiting for it, and will post it to the Amiga FILE section here when it is available. Ah. Well, I haven't been able to get the new ROMs yet (my registration hasn't even been entered in Supra's database!), so for the moment I appear to be safe.
