#WB2.1 & HD drives Arrive
20 messages in this thread
Finally! WB2.1 Enhancer is now available at my local dealer. I can't
believe it! In fact, they have in stock in their parts department six HD
disk drives for A3000 computers. Anyone interested can call ComputerLand
in Delaware 302-738-9656. If they won't ship mail-order leave me E-mail
and I'll arrange the purchase for you. I can't use one in my A2000 since
the 3000 HD drives have the eject button located in a different spot.
Hopefully, they'll be getting in some A2000 HD floppy drives soon,
although in looking at my internal disk drive, I don't see any difference,
guess I should look at the units he has again.
Chris
How much are the HD floppies for the 3000?
Nick
Nick,
The salesperson mentioned $200 and I told him that I felt that was a bit
much.
Chris
That is a LOT too much. other people sell them for $110-$150 or
thereabouts.
Tom,
That is what I told them. Way too much! It seems to me that they're
more interested in getting the most money for a product as possible. I for
one want an HD drive, but I refuse to pay through the nose for it.
Chris
When I got my HD floppy, the guy said '$199'.
I said 'No Way!'
He finally took $150 + $10 for FedEx 2nd Day shipping.
It was wirth it!
Glad to hear that HD floppies are FINALLY available.
(YAY!)

Erik Flom
Erik,
The HD floppies are also fully compatible with 880K Amiga floppies,
aren't they?

Chris, what was the price on WB2.1? Did you get it? Wish I could use one
of the HD drives with my A500.
Gail
Gail,
The 2.1 enhancer without ROM (use the 2.04 ROM you already have) was
$45. 2.1 Enhancer with ROM was $99. New manuals (four), bound binding.
Look like a pocket book collection in stiff carboard sleeve (6"x8").
AmigaDOS, Worbench 2.1, ARexx, and Amiga Hard Drive. The books start about
1/2" thick and go down.
Chris
Chris,
Thanks for the info. $45 isn't too bad and I would like Cross-Dos.
I'll be thinking about it. Let me know how you like it.
Gail
Hey Gail,
you can get a public domain program called 'Multidos' that reads/writes
IBM format discs, I use it all the time with no problem at all,
-just seems a good way of saving $45 if you're already WB2.0…
Steve,
Steve,
Thanks for the info. I'll check it out. Do you know if it is on a
Fred Fish? I do already have WB2.04.

Title : Read MS-DOS disks in your Amiga floppy drives
Keywords: MULTIDOS MSH CROSSDOS MS-DOS DIDERICKSON
This program is very similar to MSH, but was written by a
different author. You install an MS-DOS driver in the devs: directory,
mount your drives as MS-DOS drives, and then read either AmigaDOS or
MS-DOS disks in the same drive. Author: Kjell H. Didricksen
Michael,
Thanks a lot for the information. I'll check it out.

Gail
I just prepared an upload to CIS so you could get Multidos then I
noticed Michael had posted you a note saying its already there…
ho hum, never mind if you have any trouble running it Email me and
I'll try and help.
Steve,
Steve,
Steve,
Thank you also.
Gail
Why can't you use a HD drive with the 500? No 2.04 yet?
The HD in this instantance is High Density floppy. It would be an
internal drive and I have a 105 Meg Hard Drive where df0 used to be. I do
have WB 2.04.
