#Bastard iso 9660

Does anyone know why PC Cd rom publishers took it on themselves to publish a non standard variation of iso 9660 formats, which cannot easily be read by Unix and Mac machines which can read true iso 9660? Is there someone who can lay out the various comaptibility issues for a novice like myself?

Copy protection is one possible reason. Also in the early days of CD-ROM there might not have been any standards yet. Also it might be in the older High Sierra (1986) standard which has been replaced by the ISO-9660 standard.

Do you know if there is a document in one of the CIS libs which describes the ISO standard?

No since ISO-9660 is copyrighted it shouldn't be on-line anywhere. You download the High Sierra document from this forum which is 98% the same as ISO standard. Use the keywords HIGH SIERRA when you search the library.
