Is there anything new on getting MSCDEX running under OS/2 – at least under
OS/2's DOS emulation? Right now I'm using OS/2's VMDISK to boot into DOS to
load the driver (had to fudge the MSCDEX to get it past the DOS level
check). It'd be real nice if the driver would load under a DOS window so we
could use all of our DOS CD's. Thanks…Nick

MSCDEX should not be needed IF you have a supported SCSI & CDROM drive.
There is a new BETA driver available in one of the OS2 forums (I think
OS2SUPPORT) called OS2CDR.ZIP. I have downloaded it an am using it on my
NEC 74 connected to an IBM SCSI board. This driver even supports sound
now.
I had some problems with the generic driver and DOS programs returning
MSCDEX not loaded or wrong version. This one does not have that problem.
Unfortunately, the OS/2-DOS APPEND command does not support the /X switch,
so I still can't get the Wing Commander/Ultima CDROM to load, but at least
it's not a driver problem.

What is the /X parameter on the append command for? I have the new Os/2
cdrom driver and would really like to play the ultima cd. Thanks. Brian

The /X makes the appended path work just like the regular PATH environment
variable. The appended path will be searched for EXEs. This may not be
the problem though. The batch file that contains the append DOES NOT use
the /X parameter.
The OS2 version of the append command may not be working at all. I'm going
to try putting the required paths into my DPATH and see if the DOS box uses
it. (I don't tink it does though).
