I'm a new 3ds addict (purchased the generous education discounted package for my school this summer). I heard from another user that there is an update to version 2.0 . I haven't received any notification of this. What is the difference in the newer version? I new enough that I couldn't tell a bug from my myriad mistakes. Should I upgrade, if so, HOW? Paul Werner PS. I have a number of students who are becoming addicted also. You should print health warnings on your boxes.

There is a 2.01 update (available for about a month now) that fixes a number of minor bugs in 2.0, plus adds faster PXP and AXP support, some other IPAS enhancements, and a better 8-bit color cut method for making flics and gif files. The problem with 2.01 is that there are two bugs in it that required us to make a 2.01a, which will be available from your original dealer sometime in December. If you're not heavy into the IPAS stuff, I'd wait till later in December or sometime in January to update to 2.01a. There's nothing that critical in 2.01 or 2.01a that you need to update before the break. – G PS: I know what you mean about health warnings. I've been addicted to this stuff for about 10 years. <g>

Thanks for the reply. I'll wait for the update of the update. This is a neverending cycle. As soon as I purchase software there seems to be a new and better version knocking at my door. Ireceive my Stacker 3.0 upgrade today and in the same mail was the upgrade notice from Autodesk about Animator Pro. I have had the program for less than a year and already I feel like my pocket is being picked. Of course, I would probably complain if there were no improvements. Paul

It's true that software _is_ a never-ending cycle. But in most ways, that's a blessing, not a curse. It keeps the tools current with the needs of the people who use them. – G
