A-MAX PRINTING PROBLEM

As anybody tried to get a HP deskJet working with the A-MaxII.We tried that on my friend's system and when we tried to print something we have a reque er saying that it's spooling to the disk but soon after that we recevie another requester saying that it cannot talk to the printer and is asking us to check for cables!!!When we cancelled the requester a formfeed was output at the printer!!!!!!! Config: A-2000/A-max/ system 6.0.7(mac)/Hp deskwriter V3.1 driver software The driver is part of the system folder and it has been selected. Thanks Michel

I haven't tried using a DeskWriter with my AMAX yet, but am trying to convince my girlfriend that 'she REALLY wants to buy a DeskWriter550C' for her own machine. If she gets it, I will definitely be trying it with my AMAXII+ card (though I'll be using the Amiga I/O since she will be getting an IBM compatible printer). Sorry I can't offer any help yet, but am curious to hear how you solve it. Good Luck! Erik Flom

Frank told me to pick a file(driver) in the HP forum the file is called HPDJ.SIT and it's working with the parallel port of the AMIGA. Bye

I suspect you are using the serial deskjet driver and not the Appletalk driver and that the Deskjet is connected serially with the appropiate serial configurations set for AMAX ??… -Jonathan

You can't use the Amiga parallel port in conjunction with any printer drivers available for the deskjet on a MAC that I know of. You ought to try one of the generic serial (not appletalk) drivers and a serial connection to the deskjet. That is how I print to my printer…. -Jonathan

There are two vendors who sell drivers for the MAC to almost any printer. They both ship a cable, serial or parallel, with their package that you won't need. One is GDT which at least used to be mentioned in the AMax instructions. I currently have my deskjet on the parallel port of my Amiga and don't have to change it to print from the Amiga, Bridgeboard, or AMax. :-> BTW the software is the same, but the parallel cable package costs twice as much. Did I understand you to say that the software for both the parallel and the serial packages is identical, but they charge double for the parallel? Is there just a software switch to set for sending parallel rather than serial? Thanks – Joe
