" But why are you comparing 3dsr2 to Topas 4.2? Yep, I have to agree. Comparing shipping versions is a valid means of comparison, since life in the real world doesn't wait for the competition to catch up. Probably my biggest reason for comparing R2 with T4.2 was because those are the versions I am most familiar with. By the time I get into R3 (good enough to know what I am talking about), I will have Topas 5.0 at my door. Then I'll have to learn that one to make a fair comparsion. I also agree as per the twist issue. For the difference in list price, one could easily add Twist to 3DS and still have some cash left over (to buy more RAM 🙂 . Then again, I make it a point to avoid list whenever possible. — James —

James, I am glad to hear you agree on the 3dsr3 vs Topas 4.2 comparison. It seems many of the forum members have r3 now, and if not, they would want to hear how r3 does against Topas. I'd love to hear how you feel about Topas 5.0, although I've no intention of getting it <g>.

Not going to go for the double dongle offer being "dangled" by Crystal? (Say that really fast ten times.) I have decided that Topas is worth $750. I hear the offer has been extended until Nov. 12th or so. Still, 3DS is my right arm. Topas is my right pinky toe. 😉 BTW, I'll try to remember to run another comparson of the two when I have both. I'll have to chalk that up on the old PM Alarm.

James, Let me know if you have any printer problems when you get the double dongle dangled.

no I'm disinterested in the double dongle dangled offer. I need to save my pennies for a DPS PAR.
