Thanks for the correction! I was very proud of myself — I wrote all
three sentences without consulting my "Dutch in 3 Months" book.
Before I left Gent the last time my friends bought me two books for
practicing Dutch. One is The Adventures of Buffalo Bill, which is
quite easy to read as it is aimed at 12-year-olds. The other one has
a purple cover with a man and a woman groping each other on it. I
don't have the English translation. Maybe you can tell me what it
means. It's called "Kus Der Vergetelheid". I'm pretty sure I can
figure out what the plot is, though. <g>
Keep on getting well-known, so I can come to Belgium and ride on your
coattails! <g> I would like to live in Gent — I met a lot of
wonderful people there, and got to know the city a little during my
visits — but I can always come to Brugge as often as necessary.
Maybe it would make sense for me to live in Brugge instead, I don't
know. It depends on many things. It would be nice to live in Brugge
so I can stop in and see your mother as often as I like! Please say
hello to her and your father for me, and ask her if she can send some
of that soup down this way! <g>
Are you planning to establish a relationship with one of the TV
production houses? Sometimes they will trade VTR rental for
animation.
To find out who has 3D Studio in Belgium, you would contact Autodesk
Benelux. Usually they are not allowed to give you the user list but
they might do a mailing for you. If you have a good reason they
might give you the list, you never know.
As soon as I unpack and find the pictures, I'll send them to you. The
ones I took with the disposable camera came out funny, they're very
far away. For example, the ones you took of me in front of the church
in Damme, I am just a tiny speck. In the one of us on the steps of
that building, you can hardly see us at all!
Keep working on your dutch.
The title you talked about, It had me grabbing for my English Dictionary,
Because of I learned a new English word.
If this is well translated it says "kiss of the ones doomed to oblivion". I'm
not sure this is exactly right and it is a free translation.
vergetelheid= oblivion, forgetfulness.
You should now better in which context it was meant for you, although I have a
few clues.
Concerning 3DS, I'm preparing a pamphlet to present my animation. But I'm still
looking for the right Video Solution and the right market overhere, but it
seems the market for small computer animations is wide open and nearly unknown
overhere (the advantage and disadvantage come hand in hand).
The TV production and Video production unit nearby my house have no relation
sofar with something similar. But they will rent per hour (+/- 6000 Fr.($180)
an hour to record to a prof.SVHS deck, excluding tape costs is that OK)
equipment to me and they are interested to see what 3DS can do, but for the
moment I lack a framebuffer an VTR controller, they have SVHS, BetaSP, D1-3
available. And they would be able to add sound and live images to my
animations, but I would like to learn to do this myself, but I have
_no_experience_ whatever at that level of editing.
However at one of the apartments we put for rent here a guy lives who studied
animation, he does it with drawing pencil still but puts them to tape at a TV
production studio in Oostende (Ostend) and he says they are well equiped and
have good knowledge of Computer to Tape output. They also happen to be Sony
Prof. Video Equipment dealer so it sounds they would be interesting to.
So still searching, for the solution hope to be able to start full out by the
middle of next year.
The Digital Processing Systems Personal Animation Recorder however interest me
a lot for its price and real time capability, however I would like to see its
quality first, you think it is interesting???
However here on the forum they say it will be released in December in the US, I
called the UK office they say for Europe it will be available on Amiga in
January and fot PC in June, why do we always have to wait 6/12 months to the US
?????? It is not Fair !!!!!
Concerning the pictures, search out the good ones. Sorry for the soup but it
would be soup anymore when it would reach Australia???
BTW have any contacts in New York City working with 3DS, I will be going there
in April '94 with a couple of good friends (architects)
This goes for anyone on the forum.
Greetings to you from everyone here,
Christophe
