We are awaiting 12 upgrade copies of R3, and we also ordered acad/win and Visual Link. Adesk told our software ordering guy that Visual Link would not work with R3, so we said, get it anyway, we'll use it with R2 and wait for an upgrade. When we again contacted Adesk, we were told that Visual Link was no longer being sold due to serious bugs. What's the real story? Also, if VL is still available, can it work at all with Acad for Windows? Thanks, -andy

My understanding is that Visual Link is not dead but is undergoing changes, to be released at some future time. Visual Link will work with 3DSR3 howevever it will not support all of 3's features. No Visual Link does not work under Windows. AutoVision isn't out for Windows either but, I've heard a Windows and a Unix version are in progress. Karen

I have not tried VisualLink with R3 but the R3 file has a version change which may cause VisualLink to skip all of the objects. BTW, only the final release contained this change so the beta releases did still work. Keith.

Yost Group has nothing to do with Visual Link. I wrote the documentation, but strictly as an outside contractor, so I have no idea what Autodesk's plans are for the product. A dealer could probably give you a better idea of its current state and compatibility with various products. – Jack

Thanks for the info, Jack. You guys are so on top of things that it's easy to get carried away and assume you are omniscient. – andy
