#Animation player for NT.
8 messages in this thread
Do you have any information on whether it is feasible to use the Windows
animation player on a non-Intel box running Windows NT? Specifically, PowerPC.
I don't have access to the hardware yet…

Les,
I can successfully load and play animations on NT using the regular Windows
player, but performance is a real dog. (16 to 32 bit conversion)
and to anticipate your next question, no…I am not aware of a true 32 bit
windows animation player.

Will the new " Animation Studio" address this problem? and is it a 32 bit NT
software program like
PhotoShop?
Thanks
Brandon

Well, AASTUDIO is also designed for Windows 3.1. But we are not talking about
the program, we are talking about displaying animations. AASTUDIO creates AVI
files, and there are indeed AVI players native to the NT environment.

The first release of AASTUDIO will be a WIN3.1 application. I am unfortunately
not allowed to talk about future releases of the software.

I guest what I am asking will AAStudio work with NT. Will it run any faster
installed under NT in its current state?
Thanks, and have a good week out of the office.

AASTUDIO is being developed as a 3.1 app. Actually, I don't have any info on
its performance in an NT environment. Perhaps closer to the ship date I'll play
around with it under NT, but I try to avoid doing stuff like that with software
in development.

"Successfully load and play animations under NT"…
Is that on Intel hardware? I know that everything is portable under NT (?!),
but it would be nice to be sure whether flics will play on PowerPC, MIPS, and
the other platforms.

Yes, that was on an intel chip. I am unable to test the other options you
mentioned.
