#New Imagine 3.0 Demo Pic
11 messages in this thread
I just uploaded another demo picture for Imagine 3.0. This JPEG is
the cover image for Rodriguez-Soussan Productions' upcoming videotape
series, Imagine: the Possibilities. Volume 1 is called Unlocking
3.0 and will cover all the new features in the software. The image
was entirely raytraced and uses the new metal shaders and each object
has an independent reflect map. Total trace time on a 486/66 for the
640×480 picture was about 15 minutes. Lock.jpg can be found in Lib
4. Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think. –Rick Rodriguez
Loved that Gas.JPG! Now I'm off to download your newest creation!
When is your video tape going to be available?
I anticipate about 45 days from the time Imagine officially ships.
–Rick
Do those words "Imagine officially ships" mean that Imagine 3.0 didn't
start shipping Oct 28th? Just curious since I ordered the upgrade last
week and was kinda hoping I would get it by the end of this week.
Is snail mail the only way to get it shipped? I'd pay to get it sooner if
possible!

Troy, I believe Imagine began shipping today. –Rick
As a recent PC purchaser, (mid October), do I have to order the upgrade, or is
it included? Will the PC version ship same time as Amiga? DXF fixed?
Rick, Mike told me last week that they BEGAN shipping Upgrades the 28th
but they wouldn't get em all out till at LEAST today.
Yes, I called today and they told me shipping started today. Can't wait!
Rick, a few questions about Imagine 3.0 for the PC:
1) What anim format does it use?
2) What image formats does it save, and load for brushes etc?
3) If it's a proprietary format, is there source/format available?
4) Does it support VESA? If not, what SVGA boards are supported?
5) Does it support Targa, or other 24/32 bit video boards?
6) Is it available this week?
7) How much will it cost?
Troy, I'll let Mike answer about the cost of Imagine PC. As for anim
format, it writes .FLC and Imagine formats. It reads and writes
RGBN-8, IFF, and uncom- pressed TIFF and Targa formats. I believe
the source code is available from Impulse for their proprietary
rendering formats. You must run your VESA driver prior to loading
Imagine and then it will render directly to your board. I've used it
with a wide variety of VGA boards with no problems. At the moment,
version 2.9 does not output directly to the Targa, but I'm promised
that that's coming soon. I believe 2.9 will ship beginning tomorrow.
Rick,
just d/lied your new demo pic. Great! I like it. Just the day before I thought
how difficult it would be to make that scratched metall surface that you used
as background. Thanks!
