#What NEC monitor TO TAKE

Got a question for ya.
I got a chance to get a NEC 3D monitor for a really good price. And
I'm kind of sure that those were the NEC models that at one time alot of
folks in our Amiga family were using. I just wanted to check with you
whether or not you know what olded NEC models will sync low enough to use
with an Amiga.
My source here for this NEC is my nephew, he works for a LARGE leasing
firm that has a LARGE inventory of older monitors coming back from a 3 or
4 year lease. He's pulled up an inventory report on his computer at home
and it showed at least 3 screen full lists of NEC 3D's just sitting
around. He also show 2D's and other NEC's. I can pretty much have my
pick of what monitor I want. And all it going to cost is shipping from
Chicago to here (Wyomin').
Right now he's going to send me a 300meg HD just cause they have a 100
or so of them sittin' around. To bad for me ;).

Roy,
Not Denny (I'm from NC, does that count?), but I can tell you that NEC
3d's work great with A1200 & 4000's, displaying every mode. It syncs from
15.5 to 38 KHz…so it'll cover every Amiga made.
Sounds like you're getting a great deal – I paid $359 for mine new about a
year ago.

Ya – it a deal. I've been looking for a new monitor for about 6 months
now. Ever since my Emerson (don't ever buy an Emerson) multisync die – it
was only 3 years old and it is dead, to costly to repair – something about
the 'FlyBack' they tell me. Anyway, I've since used everything from a
simple 6'' green screen (using the video out RCA plug), to ye olde trusty
1084, to now a beautiful 1924 that I bought used from Denny about 2 months
ago.
That is why I addressed my message to him – He know's of my monitor woes.
I like the 1924, but it ain't color. Will probably keep them both online,
cause the 1924 sure works great w/ Ppage and my Spreadsheetin'.
The NEC are hard to find – How you find a new one only a year ago, I
thought they haven't made these for awhile.

Roy,
You can buy new, or occasionally refurb'd, 3D's most any day of the week
from US Flex (last 5 or 6 pages in every Computer Shopper). They are
either still in limited production, or somebody has one big warehouse
full.

I love my Nec3D Defintely a good monitor and it syncs to all the AGA
modes! 🙂
I don't think the 2D does though… The only other Nec models that I know
of that do, are the Multisuync IIA (older version of this one), and I
think the Multisync II.
You woudn't want to sell the 300 Megger cheap would you?

No – think I'll keep the drive. Mike – my nephew – is even going to
supply external case with it – me thinks, at least we talked about it.
Going to start hinting around with him about keepin' his eyes open for a
SCSI tape unit – goin' to need it with about 480 meg of harddrive space.
Thanks for the NEC advice. It is lookin like I'll be gettin that 3D.

Roy….I know there is a NEC-2A monitor that does NOT sync to 15khz. There is a
NEC-2 that DOES sync to 15khz. (haven't heard of a 2D)
From what I've heard the 3D is one of the best for the 1200/4000 Amigas.

That's pretty much the story I got from everyone. I really kind of
knew that me self, but I have never owned an NEC so I just asked up
here, really kindof, to confirm what I already knew. Thanks again.
The monitor is on its way and I'm looking forward to going color
again.
*Do* get the 3D- I have been completely happy with mine for more than
three years. It cost lots back then, but it's been worth it.

As the others mentioned, the 3-D works just fine with Amigas. Syncs to
normal and AGA rates.
If it's a good deal, go for it!

Thanks – it is a very good deal and I will go for it. Once I get it in,
I'll have to test the Desktop arrangements to see if I'm going to keep the
2024. You know I like it very much, just don't know how well the two will
work together. But we'll just have to see.
