Sorry to butt in. The ISBN number for "3D Studio: Special Effects" is 1-56205-303-5. There doesn't appear to be a single author, but if its any help the publishers address is: New Riders Publishing 201 West 103rd Street, Indianaoplis, IN 46290 USA Its an excellent publication.

martin, as they say, even a blind squirrel finds an occasional nut. i found a copy at borders bookstore last night (thanks to having the ISBN number. i spent the day working on making what i hope is a decent "rendition" of your laser burn. it's a gorgeous piece of work you've done and i only hope i can do it justice. thanks for the assistance. michael

Michael, >> laser burn…. it's a gorgeous piece of work you've done and i only hope i can do it justice. << thanks for the kind words … they are much appreciated after a rough day. (my days at Virgin are numbered, I think). Anyway, glad you could find a copy of the book and hope you find many of the chapters useful.

Michael, I had trouble finding it here for a while (Marin county, CA), but did find it in an unlikely place: Egghead Software…(don't know if this chain extends to where you are…if not, call the 800 number and order. Connie

connie, even for a podunk city like charlotte, i found lightning in a jar in the form of one copy at borders bookstore. i sure do appreciate your responding and yes, amazingly, we do have egghead software here. i didn't think to look there but all is well. many thanks, michael
