#Real Time Clock
5 messages in this thread
My old 500 had a realtime clock which was part of the 1k expansion in
the trap door. Is there a such a clock, preferably stand alone, that
I can fit into my A1200HD? My Autopilot.Log aint much use without
one!

Nancy,
there is a clock module that fits most A1200's. However fitting it
invalidates the warrantly. It costs about 15 ukp and is availiable from
many retails outlets such as First Choice of Leeds and TriLogic (where I
got mine). It is quite easy to fit but does involve openning up the
A1200.

Thanks Adrian..I usually buy whatever I need from Trilogic and I did
speak to them a little while ago about a clock module. They said it
was only available with the expansion rom (have I used the word 'rom'
in the right context?) I felt sure there had to be something
available, that is why I put the message up here.
Again thanks, I'll call them again tomorrow.

Nancy, I hope you had better luck this time. They must have
mis-understood you before. Most of the trap-door expansions, memory,
accelorators etc. have a clock on them too, that must be what they
thought you wanted. Having just checked thier advert in Amiga Shopper
I see they still advertise it for #15.99, it is called "A1200
Internal Clock Module". One point to bear in mind, if you but one of
those trap-door expansions later the clock module you may have bought
for #16 will be useless (no real need for two clocks<g>), however for
the price I think it is worth it, if only for a couple of months or
so.
Adrian, Thanks, now I am beginning to wonder whether it's worthwhile
taking a chance and invalidating the warranty, just to instal the
clock. I did it on the 500, and fortunately, had no problems with the
machine. However it did create questions when I wanted to trade-in
the 500 for the 1200!
