I am the same boat as you! I have a Gateway 466E-DX2 with 32MB running NT. I have Adaptec 1742A (not terminated), Seagate 1GB Hard Disk (terminated – internal – SCSI 0), Pioneer DRM-600 CD-ROM (terminated – external – SCSI 2), and HP34580A Tape Drive (not terminated – external – SCSI 3). When I try do do a backup, after 6 to 8 files, I get a tape error. The error log says that the SCSI controller had a time-out error. No one has yet to provide a theory as to why this is happening. have you tried to slow down transfers across the bus. turn off sync and lower tansfer rate to 5 meg or so. any difference? There is 1 Reply. Read action !

I know how to change the transfer rate (EISA setup). How do I disable sync? BTW the HP specs say the thing should do synchronous transfers at 5MB/sec. I currently have my transfer rate set a 3.33 MB/sec. There is 1 Reply. Read action !
