Hi there, I have a small practical problem with the Corel CD-Rom Server on a Netware 3.11 server. The configuration is the following : IBM PS/2 M57 with IBM SCSI adapter & 400 Mb SCSI disk Adaptec 1640 SCSI controller with Hitachi 1750S & Dynatec 2Gb DAT CorelSCSI 1.1 running on the NW 3.11 ASPI manager Cheyenne ArcServe 4.0 running on the ASPI manager. all stations IBM PS/VP 425SX (4 in total) Everything works very fine, except for one little trouble. I run the CDMAP utility from the System login script. Most of the time it works OK but sometimes, with some stations, they get an error message "Unable to register CD-ROM server". And when, directly after getting this message, you try the command manually, everything works fine. The trouble is that when the user does not notice the error, he will be in trouble afterwards. Any suggestions on this? I checked the following : No users try connecting at the same time. No heavy load on server or cd-rom Errors are at random. Problem during login, logout, new login works fine. Thanks, — Philip

Philip, This error normally occurs during periods of choppy SPX communications. There is a file that Novell produces, as a patch, to fix this problem. The file is called XMDFIX.NLM and can be found in their forum. After a client of ours loaded this file all of his problems went away. If you are running 8 MB of RAM or lower, try loading CDSVR100 with a CACHE=0 option. If the problem is memory related this will free up .5 MB. I hope this helps. Laszlo
