I work for a company that has committed to Truevision 1024-32 graphics boards. There seems to be a problem — Truevision has not written an ADI v4.1 or ADI v4.2 driver for this card, so we can't use the 1024-32 as the render or materials (24bit) display. If anyone out there can offer a solution, driver-wise, please leave me some info. Running 3DSr3 at 24bit on these boards is a must! Thanks in advance for any help … David P.

David, If I am not mistaken, that is a TIGA based board. You should be able to get support you if you configure your "3DS vibcfg" for "TIGA 2.x". Of course you will need the TIGA 2 drivers for the board…and have them loaded into memory. I would verify this for you, but TrueVision has been unwilling to give us a board to test with. Tell me how it goes. Best Regards, Brian

No, there aren't any TIGA drivers for the 1024-32. Pete Birkel at Truevision does supply ADI drivers for 3D Studio, though. The release 2 driver works OK, but other than the MAXDATA linker problem Gus Grubba pointed out, I don't know that any other modifications (such as to support 24-bit materials editor) has been done. Since I no longer have a dealer demo of the board, I don't know how far the VESA capabilities of the on-board VGA go (it did support high-res FLIC playing and 256-color rendering, as well as 24-bit for .TGA output). Thanks for the info. Actually, I was under the impression that TIGA-based boards relied upon a DOS real-mode driver. There is none with the 1024-32. Truevision supplies an ADI v4.0 driver that works great with 3DSr2, but does NOT work with 3DSr3. Your Vibrant Video driver works okay with the VESA TSR that runs the 512k VGA (ET4000AX) mode of the board, but I can't attain 24bpp that way. Sources within Truevision promise a driver for 3DSr3, but the same source says that they might go 3rd-party for it. That doesn't sound necessarily promising … David P.
