#Hardcopy ADI for HPGL ?

Has anyone seen or made or herd or … of any hardcopy drivers for HP Laserjet
printers ? I have a customer that want's to render to his HP Laserjet III.

There was someone online a short time ago who was wondering if anyone
was interested in printer drivers. In the meantime…no. There are no
printer drivers that I know of beside the one sample driver that
ships with 3ds. One reason is that everyone has found it much easier
to simply render a TIFF or Targa file, and then print the file with
something like PhotoShop, or a shareware app. from one of the
graphics forums. When you're printing a 24-bit raster image, you're
better off using an application that lets you really manipulate your
hardcopy print.

When will 3DS R3 support ADI 4.2? This is why we investigate whether people
want a driver rather than doing it. We don't want to be 3/4 done with a 4.1
driver and have you announce 4.2 support.

I can't answer that. (Both because I don't know the answer, and
couldn't announce future support even if I did.) You'd be better off
getting that from the Autodesk Developer's Support dept., or you
might wait until Gary gets back to see why we used 4.1.
If you're asking for 3D Studio drivers for the HP LaserJet, no, we
haven't heard of any.
Customers who need to print to that printer can get there a couple of
ways though. You need additional software. If you output a 3DS GIF
file to disk, you can print with some of the software found in GO
GRAPHSUPP. Usually customers have a Windows application which can
print graphics (even Word for Windows) and the workaround is not too
back for them.
