Jack, Sorry for this delayed response. I think your right about Corel Trace requiring too much time for touch-up. I have been tracing manually over bitmaps in 2D Shaper (bitmap used as background), this works ok until I try to zoom in for detail work or change the view in any way then everything gets out of alignment. Do you have any ideas to help this situation? (Andy has a technique using AutoCad, but I don't have that program) I also recently tried the Trace in Micrografx Designer and it seems to have some possiblities. Thanks for the help – Greg

Just got an ad for Adobe Streamline which "instantly turns any image into flexible line art." 1 800-642-3623. I think it costs $69 for the PC. You might mention that you received an offer in the mail.

PMJI, but I would not expect great results from tracing apps of any sort. Corel Trace would be my choice because of its flexibility — but it is slow, as you say. I think this is one area that would be an excellent application for neural network technology. Unfortunatley, I doubt any company is going to build a chip to to trace contours of bitmaps! — James —

Greg, I have done quite a few traced logos and have experimented with Corel Trace and others and have ALWAYS fell back to tracing in the 2d Shaper. It works the fastest and with less touch-up time (IMHO). HINT: When you start tracing the logo ALLWAYS go to the Views pull down menu and click on SAVE CURRENT. Then after you have zoomed into the polygons for detail work you can RESTORE CURRENT. After I have done most of the logo I will turn off background view and touch up by eye.

I ditto Ralph Frantz's tip.
