No, VLAB-M creates its own digital transitions and effects between two or more video scenes and two or more audio segments internally – rendering the result into a single video/audio stream before playback. It works like this: You drag two video scenes onto the timeline overlapping them, say for one second. You then drag an effect, say a fade (disolve), to the effects line (which sits between the two video lines) to let MovieShop (the VLAB-M software) know what to do with the overlap. Then set the envelopes for the audio if you want the audio to disolve also. Then render. Come back five minutes (it takes about 5 minutes to render each second of effect) later and play. The fade is now a permanent part of this new segment. In fact if you export the JPEGs back out of Movie for lets say a Quicktime project, all your effects will be part of the QT also! BTW there are effects that can work on only one video scene, like the character generator. Yep there is built in digital CG. It is light years behind the Toaster as far as ease (you need to write a script for complex CG effects) of use, but it IS there. …Warp Engine Engaged… -Paul-
