#Amiga Gang Video
17 messages in this thread
I've had several recent messages of interest in us doing another 'Amiga Gang'
compilation video.
I would really like to see another one done, but honestly lost money on the
last round at $8.75 each, considering the time it took to edit the segments
together, furnish the tape, run the dubs, pack 'em up, and mail 'em out. If
everyone thinks that $12.50 would be a fair fee for all of the above, I'm ready
to do it again. The purpose of this increase is certainly not to gouge fellow
artists, or attempt to make a bunch of money; $12.50 should be a realistic
break-even point considering wear and tear, etc.
I've done a lot of tweaking on my editing/dubbing setup since the last one, and
the final product will be of much higher quality. I've added a top-notch
WFM/Vectorscope to my suite, so colors and levels will be much truer this time.
I've also totally rewired the audio and video portions of my suite.
If you want to do it, let me know. I can accept Hi8, VHS, S-VHS, 3/4, or 3/4
SP. All editing, including the final master for running the dubs, will be on
3/4 SP.
Thanks,
Jerry
Jerry,
That deal sounds fine to me, a real fair price.
I should have about four minutes worth of new stuff to contribute. Please
post more details.
It would be real nice to see a lot of new names on it. Even if you're
just starting out, send it in. You can learn a lot; I certainly did.
I just got Jerry's latest demo, and the quality from his setup is really
good.
… Nate,
Emerald Video
Thanks, Nate.
OK, it appears that the deal is gonna work, so here's the scoop as I see it,
and anybody else with suggestions or different ideas on the new Amiga Gang
video, please jump in!
I don't think we should confine the project to just animation, but to anything
creative going on out there in video. Anyone who wants to be included on the
video can submit on the following formats:
VHS
S-VHS
8mm
Hi8
3/4
3/4 SP
Betamax
SuperBeta
NOTE: I can handle the old consumer Beta formats listed above, but NOT
Betacam! That may change before the deal is finished, but if I acquire Betacam
during the process, I'll post it…
When the submitted material totals 2 hrs., I'll post that here to let
folks know to stop submitting.
NOTE #2: Please include at the beginning of the tape about 30-45
seconds of color bars, about 15 seconds of black, and audio tone (if
you have it, if not, don't worry about it.). This will help to
ensure that everyone sees your colors the way they were intended. New
Toasterheads be aware that the background 'black' generated by
Toaster is not a good black to use for this purpose, since it's a
little hot at about 10 IRE. Simply create a plain black screen from
TPaint and use that for your black.
The total cost for my time in assembling the video, making the dubs,
and mailing them out is $12.50. I'll post the progress regularly
here on CIS, and orders from non-contributors are welcome. Here's
where to send it to:

Are there still previous versions available?
I would like to contribute but I doubt I'll have the time, but I would be
intereted to see what others are doing.
Thanks
Matt
Matt,
No, all of the dubs from the previous version are gone…:(
You're welcome to order this one, though. 🙂
Jerry
It looks to me that you have had alot of interest in the old tape. Why not get
some orders and knock a few out?
Matt
Yeah Jerry, you could sell the old tape at the new price. Since you make them
yourself, you could certainly whip up a copy of Amiga Gang I if and when you
get a request?
Blaq!
Charles and Matt,
OK, you talked me into it; I think I will post a note about the old tape…
Jerry
THANKS JERRY!
Matt
I think the Amiga Gang Video is a great idea. I am very new to this
but I can see myself contributing in a later go around. Will the
video be available to non-contributors? How often do you do one?
Would it be cool to have each author include a 1 to 3 minute
introduction of themselves, their stuff and the techniques used in
their clip?
Mike,
PMFJIH, but you should send in anything you've done, even if it's just
a few stills. You really can learn a lot watching these things, and
nothing beats a deadline for finding out just what you are capable
of.
Besides, with a lot of us banging in single frame stuff and no Screamers
to be had yet, Jerry should have lots of room to put stuff.
I can't wait to see if Peter has an introduction. That should be really
interesting! 8{)
… Nate,
Emerald Video
Moi' Interesting????
That's the only word I could think of at the time.
… Nate,
Emerald Video
ahhhhh. I should have some new Stuff to make ye nuts hehehehehehe. Hope to
see more "Cool" stuff and Less "Boring Flying Logo's" this Time
hahahahahahahahahaha I'm really Quite insane dontcha know?
Hello ALL!
I have been following this thread for a few weeks, and was wondering what
format you would like submission to be on. Perhaps, I missed your initial
call for entries. I am interested in showing my stuff, and I've just
finished a demo tape that I could forward to you, if you'd like to take a
few shots from it.
Thanks.
Steve
Steve,
Here's most of the original post; should give you all the details you need,
and by all means, send your demo tape!

Mike,
We did the last AG video about 6 mos. ago; yes, you can get one without
contributing video; the price is the same: $12.50. I also like the idea of a
short personal intro; maybe it'll happen this time around…
Thanks,
Jerry
