#4000 Accelerator

It's been said that Commodore isn't good at making accelerators. Case
in point. To my astonishment, the GVP '040 33MHZ board runs the 3.0
Toaster almost 2 times faster than the VT 4000, with an '040 33 MHZ
CPU.
Are any third party developers planning to remedy this problem for
the 4000? Like a source told me, the Alligator is coming….
(Alligoator a new accelerator for the 4000.)
Has anyone heard about any such accelerators? or an '060 accelerator
for the 4000?
I believe RCS has one and that Micro R & D is marketting it.

Please tell the 4000 owners all you know about making our systems
faster. What companies, products and prices. This is the first time
I heard that I had any options. It hurts to know that I bought, what
I was told was, the best system to toast with only to find that some
upgraded older systems are almost twice as fast.
The blanket statement is not a true representation of the case. An
older decked out accelerated A2000 can render LW frames faster in
some cases. As far as switcher operations, CG, TPaint etc, I don't
think there would be a noticeable difference.
GVP has been rumored to be working on a combination ram/CPU card for
the 4000. that is a long-standing rumor only, as far as I know. RCS
has a card (markettecd by Micro R&D that adds RAM to the 4000CPU so
that it does not have to go out over the Zorro bus to get to the
memory. That reduces som of the memopry access waits, Thats all I
know at the moment.
There was an ad for an "Excalibur" board in the latest Amigaworld.

The Excalibur is a memory board that plugs in to the '040 socket on
the CPU daughtercard. I called Mirco R & D, and they said this
allows the CPU to access the memory "three to five times faster" than
before. It has room for 128 MB of expansion. Safe Harbor is selling
it for about $750. It is *not* a CPU upgrade.
Thanks for clearing that up Kevin. The magazine ad didn't really explain
things very well.

Curious how much of an improvement on ewould get rendering in Lightwave?
(is that a 3 to 5 times faster rendering speed vs a stock '040 4000?)
They said the memory access speed was 3 to 5 times faster, not the operation of
the CPU. I think the ad said "up to 80% faster" operation.
