I need to create a mountain range that tapers to sea level at all of the edges. I have looked at the fractal generators (also Kaoslandscape on the CD-Rom) but these all create a surface that is fine as long as you do not see the perimeter, where there is a truncated section that you can see underneath. I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Well, if I understand your question correctly, what you could try to do is use the IPAS FRACTALIZE routine to create your initial mountain and then go ahead and SELECT/FACES near the bottom areas of the mountain (or your sea-level).. go ahead and perform a MODIFY/FACE/TAPER (or experiment with some of the other modify/face deformations) to get the bottom edges of your mountain to match up level with the water.. — Steve, hope it helps

Geeez, Steve, you're really into MODIFY/TAPER these days, huh <g>? I use it a lot, too. John Tissavary (La Luna cie)

Alan: This is a pretty easy effect to have, with a couple of different solutions to creating it. One way is to select all the vertices at the edge of your mountain range and bring them all down to the sea level at once after doing a 2dscale to get them all the same elevation. Greg Pyros
