Announcing VistaLite 3.0 for the Amiga from the makers of VistaPro! VistaLite is a scaled down version of the popular landscape rendering program VistaPro designed to require less than half of the memory needed by VistaPro 3.0. VistaLite has been coded with the users of Amiga 500's, 600's and 1200's in mind. It requires only 1.5 megabytes of contiguous memory rather than the 4 megabytes suggested for VistaPro. Smaller landscape areas are used resulting in faster renderings as well. VistaLite 3.0 Amiga Features —————————- FEATURES o – User-friendly point and click interface based on a camera/target model. o – Landscapes sizes of 130 x 130 data points, for faster rendering. o – Comes with set of VistaLite DEM landscapes. o – Will load VistaPro DEM landscapes. o – You can create billions of unique fractal landscapes. o – Variable focal length camera lens, unlimited number of lighting positions, dithering, roughness, and blend controls. o – User-defined color palette, night sky, tree line, snow level, waves, haze levels, lakes, rivers, buildings, and full aircraft control perspective. o – Quick Menu selectable colormaps for seasons, deserts, mars, daylight, sunrise and sunset. o – Choose from several types of trees: Oak, Pine, Palm, and Cactus. o – Modify the camera settings until you have the exact view you want. o – Generate a straight-line script files for simple animation directly from the current camera position to the target. Seperate utility available for advanced animation techniques. o – Simple Image Quality menu turns the beginner into an expert! o – Natural looking 3-D trees. o – Add Rivers and Lakes, set Treeline, Snowline and Sea Level. Add waves to ocean water. o – Add Stars to the night sky. o – Realistic fractal landscape texturing. Choose from three levels of fractal texture to add amazing realism to your renderings. o – Controls for rendering fractal clouds. o – Fast wire-frame preview simplifies pointing and adjusting the camera. o – Support for screen resolutions of 320×200, 320×400, 640×200 and 640×400. (NTSC) 320×256, 320×512, 640×256 and 640×512. (PAL) o – Supports Productivity mode of 640×480 and EURO72 mode of 640×400. (on machines with AGA chipset) o – Supports 16 color, 32 color, Extra HalfBrite, and HAM. o – Supports HAM8 and 256 color mode on AGA machines. o – Virtual Image buffer spills to disk when low on memory. o – Watch as VistaLite renders your image. o – Load and save renderings as IFF images. o – Powerful script language for animation generation in VANIM mode. Comes with animation viewer which will play VANIMs from memory or disk. Hardware Requirements: Amiga with 68000, 68020, 68030 or 68040 processor Emulated FFP or hardware 68881/68882 HAM8, 256 color mode, Productivity and EURO72 require Amiga with AGA chipset. (1200 or 4000) 2MB RAM required. 1.5 megs contiguous free memory needed. 512K CHIP RAM machines will only be able to use Lo-Res modes. Hard disk recommended. Cannot use Virtual Image Buffer on Floppy. AmigaDOS 2.05 or newer. List Price $69.95 Sidegrade from VistaPro 3.0 $25.00 Virtual Reality Laboratories, Inc. (805) 545-8515 Phone/FAX Clint <VRLI>

Hope to see you at WOC, Toronto! Scala will be with our new exclusive distributor BMD in Booth #100. Won't be able to miss us, we're the first booth from the main entrance.

John: I don't know if VRLI plans to be at WOA Toronto. I probably won't make it, as I am buried with programming tasks at the moment. I just offloaded VistaLite and am working on VistaWarp and then on to GeoForge. Once I get those done, then I can settle down to serious programming. <grin> Good luck at WOA! Clint <VRLI><Chaocity>

I've been kinda off the Amiga forums lately… If you have mentioned this already, excuse my request for old news: What is VistaWarp and GeoForge? I'm very curious 'cause they sound neat and your stuff has always been exceptional.

Miguel: VistaWarp is VistaPro re-coded to run in parallel on the Warp Transputer board. Khalid Aldoseri can give you loads of detail on the Warp board and its pending availability. I have the Warp side of things communicating now, though it's only producing wireframes, but with a couple of days of debugging, I think I'll have something they can demo on the Warp at WOA in Toronto. GeoForge is a fractal planet designer/builder. Details are still fluid, as I'm still getting new ideas and coding, but it will be a tool to use with VistaPro for creating many DEM's and complex animation paths.

I saw your posting on GeoForge. The idea of creating fractal-landscape planets is very interesting….what is the target platform? High-end or low-end Amigas? For some reason, I picture the "Genesis" device used on a planet in Star Trek II, Wrath of Khan. Remember that the planet was transformed (using fractals, I think..)

GeoForge should be usable by anyone using VistaPro, VistaLite or Scenery Animator. As it makes DEM's and is not a rendering engine itself, it needs one of the above to be really useful. Yes, it will be sort of a "virtual Genesis effect", but I can't call it that as there is/was a landscape renderer by that name already.
