I am considering getting a replacement for my ClickFAX modem and
software. I understand that GVP has the FAX/voice mail combination board.
I have also heard that I may not be able to use it because of my hardware
configuration. I have a 2000 with one meg chip RAM, a Zeus '040 board
with 8 megs of 32 bit RAM. I have no 16 bit RAM (aside from the chip
RAM). Would I have trouble trying to run the GVP FAX/voice mail card with
my hardware?
PhonePak should run properly with your configuration.
The 16-bit RAM requirement refers to Amiga 3000s and EARLY Amiga 4000's with
older Buster revisions (and their associated problems). The newer A4000's with
the Rev 11 ('K-level') Buster chip no longer need any 16-bit RAM for PhonePak
to function properly. I'm not sure what the solution for A3000 owners is.

Not at all, Ernie. The need for 16bit RAM only occurs in A3000's and A4000's
with older revision BUSTER chips. This chips did not handle DMA correctly and
caused errors. The PhonePak VFX software is supplied with two versions, one
for most users and another for A3000 owners with 16bit RAM.
Actually not necessarily so! The PhonePak will run fine in a plain Amiga
2000 or a real Amiga 2500 but it will NOT run in an A2000 with one of the
older GVP-030 cards (A3001 I believe)!
Recognize that this can not be taken as a general statement since I can
only say that MY PhonePak will not run with MY GVP-A3001 in either A2000
chassis but the same PhonePak runs just fine with the A2630 or in several
different A3000 (with ram expansion board).
Personnally, I though it was interesting that I could not use the board
with the GVP accellerator that I have.
