3DSR3 netque PAR & .TGA I have just spent 19 hours (for the 3rd time)
rendering .TGA files in net que and when I try to copy then into my
PAR drive.. PAR claims that they are the wrong type or that they are
corrupted. If I render these files without net que, they are fine,
Note that I use the same project file and PAR software 1.30b .Anybody
have a clue?
You will sometimes get this error even if the TGA files are valid if
the PAR drive needs to be optimized. Try clearing out the PAR drive
and then doing an OPTIMIZE.
Oh yeah, if that fails, a reformat of the PAR drive might be needed.

what does file/info say about these files? (bit-depth, width, height).
Check both sets of files (rendering the normal way, and then with net
queue). I'd guess that the rez would be different because of some
display driver overriding your width and height choices.

A coupla shots if Brian's ideas don't pan out:
Make sure the files when net-rendered are not COMPRESSED TGA's. If
they are don't sweat it as you could uncompress them with an .IFL
directly to the PAR.
Make sure that the directory on the PAR to which you are attempting to
copy the TGA's has no file which has a name beginning with the same
four characters as your new TGA's.
Robert: The Par handles compressed tga's just fine. If the buffer isn't at
least 1800 the Par won't receive an alpha channel ladened file.

Thanks for enlightening me on the compressed .TGA's. I had it stuck in my mind
that I got this error message when I tried it. No doubt it was a compressed
.tga with alpha 🙂

I had that problem when the .TGA files were rendered WITH the alpha channel.
WHen I changed that back to 24-bit NO alpha, all was fine.
Thanx for the many responses, i checked out all of your ideas and here
are the results: 1)by removing the alpha channel, my .TGA files will
render directly to the PAR drive…and it doesn't seem to matter if
the are compressed or not.
2) I am trying to render the very same files in video post right now… and PAR
just accepted it.
That seems to solve the problem.

you need to set your buffer for the alpha file size. (B:1800). Then you can
render to Par with alpha. It's in the Par manual!
Your right about compression. Par recognizes 3DS compressed tgas.
