Does anyone know Stefan Boberg's address? He wrote the uncompresser LhA. I
wrote to the address in the file LhA_e138.run, but got no answer. I am trying
to send him some money for the updated version.
Stefan Boberg, the guy is hard to get in touch with.
I registered LHA and never got my keyfile. I had one message from him (in reply
to my numerous posts and letters) telling thet I was actually registered, but
he failed to resend me my key, allthough I offered to pay the expenses. Some
registrations work well, others …

I envy you! At least you have some sort of response from Stefan that he
actually received your LHA registration. After sending in my money and three
follow-up letters with no response, I experienced first hand one of the lame
reasons I've heard some folks use to not send in their shareware fees. Perhaps
I should thank Stefan because now I won't send anything of any value unless I
have traceability. Unfortunately, this adds to the cost of items but it makes
it easy to prove I have fulfilled my end of the deal!

I send Stefan around 69SEK in the year 1992. I never receipt a LHA keyfile ore
somewhat else. I wrote more than five letters to him but I don`t receipt a
answer.
I don`t know why he`s unreliable.

I agree with you, I've had several good experiences regarding shareware, the
attidtude of Stefan Boberg is in no way normal, he's the exception, so far… I
am registered to several PD-programs, and I'm a registration site for Golded, I
know people expect at least word and the goods for sending money.

Stefan Boberg moved a while ago. Anywhere in my many mags is the address but It
can take a while to find that! Strange that their postal services doesn't send
the mail to his new address.

Well, whether or not Stefan Boberg responds to shareware contributions, he
has in fact made a major contribution to the Amiga community, which we all use
every day. It's hard to begrudge him the contributions that are sent, even if
they are not acknowledged.
Any shareware that is not "serviced" – with a response, with an upgrade, with
a documentation pack, whatever – is sure to fare poorly as an income generator.
SB's lack of response will lessen his revenue; I guess that's his choice.
It is frustrating to send a shareware/upgrade donation and receive no
response. Often, I have found that the package was apparently written by a
student during college; in a couple of years, he or she is gone with no
forwarding address. Sometimes the contribution comes back in the mail,
sometimes there is no feedback of any sort. And if you were hoping to get an
upgrade/commercial grade version, you may be out of luck.
One of my oddest shareware experiences was sending off a contribution, and
receiving back a letter which said, "Since I'm no longer working on upgrading
this package, I'm returning the money". Heck, he could have kept it for the
work he had already done; I certainly benefitted from it.
