Does anyone know if the Chinon 525 SCSI-2 Double Speed CDROM will work with the A2091. Will other SCSI-2 drives work with the A2091 SCSI interface. Amiga1200 M1230XA 50/50 "You never know 'till you find out."

Any SCSI-2 (but NOT SCSI-2 Wide) drive *should* work with the A2091, especially if you have the most recent (7.0) A2091 ROMs and probably even if you don't. A SCSI-2 drive is supposed to act just like a SCSI-1 drive except that it knows what to do if you send it SCSI-2 commands. The A2091 won't send it SCSI-2 commands, and the SCSI-1 commands it sends still act the same.

The NEC MultiSpin 3Xe works fine when hooked up to an A2091, even with the DIP switch on the back of the drive set to SCSI-2. At the same time it was hooked up to a quantum 105 and Fujitsu 530 MB (SCSI-2) hard drive (both used on the Amiga), and was also connected to a SoundBlaster 16/SCSI-2 card used by the 386SX bridgeboard. I use AmiCDROM v1.15 for the CDROM disk file system (AMICD.LHA from the libraries). Seems to work okay. The CDRom normally belongs to the soundblaster. I use the cable suppied with the external CDRom (23 pin to the 50 pin connector) to connect the CDRom to the A2091 when I want to use the CDRom on the Amiga. Just turn off the terminator on the CDRom. The A2091 is still driving three terminators – the one on the A2091, one on the furthest SCSI HD, and the one on the SoundBlaster. I don't leave it connected all the time because I don't want to take the chance of somthing going nuts on the BB wiping out my Amiga hard drives. 73, Kelly
