Hello Everybody, I am trying to install 1.3 on my 3000, I have the 1.3 disks but no rom. Is there any program to copy the kickstart disk to the hard drive for use by one of the soft kick programs? Any help would be appreciated. Thany you, George

The original 3000's with WB prior to 2.04 had special Roms with the kickstart images (both 2.0 and 1.3) on the hard drive. I don't know if the 1.3 was a special version for the 3000 or not, but you could select which you wanted boot under at start-up. This capability was lost with the advent of 2.04. I haven't had any real luck in finding anything that would allow booting under 1.3 on the 3000. (Though I haven't looked terribly hard since what I need to run does fine under 2.04, and I like 2.04 so much better. Games which have to run under 1.3 are run on my old 2000. So far it seems that most of that which chokes on 2,04, choked on the 68030 anyway. The early 3000 setup disks had the 1.3 image on them, but would probably overwrite the rest of the system also. I manually removed my 1.3 image after I went to 2.04. You might try looking on the early system disks for for that kind of stuff.

Have you heard anything about superkickstart? I may be mistaken but, does this allow you to setup a boot partition which can be used when you hold the left&right mouse buttons down during powerup?

George, Superkickstart is the name of the Kickstart floppy that came with the 2.04 A3000 (not sure about other OS versions). Yes, when you booted holding down both mouse buttons, a menu came up allowing you to select 1.3 KS. This was read from the floppy, then you were prompted to insert a 1.3 WB floppy. Not sure if there is a way for 1.3 WB to be loaded from a hard disk boot partition (doubt it). Gary

Yes, you could in the 3000 softkick setup. The boot menu let you select 2.0x or 1.3 from either HD or floppy. The Superkickstart floppy had both 2.04 and 1.3 ROM images in it, and both got intalled in the HD's SYS:DEVS directory.
