Sorry if the answer is obvious but I don't own or use an Amiga but … A friend wants to do colour printing using his Amiga 1200 and wants some advice on which colour printer to buy. I have an HP deskjet which I use under Windows on a PC but I wanted to know if there are any problems using a deskjet with a 1200 such as the availability of printer drivers (mine came with just DOS & Windows drivers) or does it depend on the software he's using knowing about the particular printer. Thanks in advance for any help – Tony Rowell

Tony, There are some PD drivers for the HP 500 series of printers here in the libs that are so-so and there are commercial ones that cost anywhere from aprox. $60 on up. If he went with a Cannon BubbleJet color printer there are commercial quality drivers here in the libs also and they are continually updated by Wolf Faust. The Cannon would, IMO, be the better value simply for the free, high quality drivers available here for the price of the download. I've heard good things here about the new Epson 720 dpi color jet printer also but there again you have to go with a commercial driver. I now own a HP 560c and if I could unload, er I mean sell it, I would go with the Epson I think. -Marty

There should`t be any trouble geting most printers to work with the 1200. It comes (on the Storage disk) with loads of printer drivers, some made for paricular makes and models and some just for epson emulation. For example the are a number of HP (deskjet laser etc) supplied. Colour printing is no problem. Just read the workbench manual and it should tell you how to set everything up correctly. BTW there are also printer drivers available in the libraries in this forum. —Richard Daniel

Without question, the Epson Color Stylus. I have a few friends who have Deskjet printers and I make them green with envy whenever I show them images printed in the 720 DPI mode. The Epson comes with drivers for the PC and Mac (works great with the Emplant), and Amiga drivers are available from Endicor and Wolf's Studio-II software. // John (Warp 4040 & Emplant Quadra 840) \X/ Mercury@ins.infonet.net
