Here's a possible solution to one of your unanswerable questions in the
November 'Dear John' column:
For the teacher trying to prevent her students from cluttering up their
HD, she could try the 'LOCK' command. It will lock the specified drive,
preventing writes to it.
Obviously, this wouldn't work on the volume where any program prefs are
being saved, but it could at least reduce the number of volumes available
to save to.
