3d Stere-Lithography
6 messages in this thread
Hi,
I am writing to inquire about information regarding translation of
infoprmation from DXF—-> STL formats.
The interest ins driven by the need to connvert information from various
modelling programs to output suitable for Stereo-Lithography. I would be most
interested in any assistance offerred or avavilable to provide me with a better
understanding for this area of 3D output.
Thanks all.
BTW I was directed here by John Dowdell of Macromedia Tech Support(thanks
againg John…s). <g>

Yes, we support both STL and DXF in our 3D translation program, InterChange.
If you send me your postal address, I'll have our catalog sent out to you right
away – air mail, if you're in Europe.
John,
Thank you for the response to the query regarding DXF to STL and return
translation. I would be grateful to receive the Catalogue regarding the
InterChange 3D translation program. My address is as follows:

…is that close enough to Eorope to qualify for Airmail? <g>
Could you also tell me a little bit more about this whole process? Does it
interface with any system(Stereo-Lithographer)? Is it available for converting
and use in conjunction with MacroMedia's MacroModel(my main program choice for
modeling/draft Rendering)?
I am really interested in receiveing as mcuh information regarding this output
technique as is available. Could you direct me to any other sources, should
this not be a suitable topic for this forum?
Thanks, in advance, for your prompt reply.
Kindest regards,
Michael Lemieux
Yes, "airmail" covers the globe. Yes, we support both binary and ASCII
stereolithography formats. We don't support 3DGF, the format used in
MacroModel, but we hope to add it as soon as they can docuent their scene file
format.
We are about to release the Windows version of InterChange. We first shipped
the Amiga version in 1987. After the Windows version is released, we'll renew
work on the Mac version, too.
I don't think there's much here in terms of additional threads about
conversions. If you have additional questions, I'll be glad to try to answer
them. That's what we're here for!
John,
Are there any old threads or messages on this discussion point still at your
disposal?
If so I would love to have a chance to read thru them. If you have the
opportunity to forward theem to m, I would be grateful.
It may also help sav e you answering a lot of *stupid* questions, again. <g>
Many thanks,
Michael Lemieux
John…
Sorry for the numerous and faceted files…
I must point out that my inquiries should be qualified as based on the
condition of operating in the Macintosh environment.
I would appreciate any comments and insights you may be able to share on the
effects of this point as it refers to the queried items.
Thanks,
Michael Lemieux
