#3dstudio vs animator

can 3dstudio do everything that animator can do? i want to make simple machines and cause the parts to roll,twist,grind,rotate etc (ie move) in 3d.

Tom, I don't think you can really say 3ds vs Animator. They aren't meant for the same thing. For your usage I think 3ds is what you need.

Martin's right, 3D Studio and Animator Pro are more complementary. Animator Pro excels in 2D paint and animation whereas 3D Studio is ideal for doing what you want: < make simple machines and cause the parts to roll, twist, grind,rotate etc (ie move) in 3d. > If you have an Autodesk dealer near you, drop by and pick up some literature on the two packages or call Autodesk.
