SUPER IPAS
SUPER RT
Soon to be released in the first quarter of '97, is the Super Spline
Modler with Displacement Map Highspeed Ray Tracing module, called Super RT,
that rounds out your set of 3D Studio R8 tools. There is no more need to to
wait for that old 4 processor 9 gigabite Intel antique of yours to render an
animation. This IPAS comes with an adaptor that lets you connect directly to
the YOST central render server. The new YOST server with 64 parallel processors
divides the ray traced image into discrete sections and produces a full 2,037 X
1,720 image in 22 seconds.
At press time we were unable to get a quote from Mr. Gary Yost on his
latest breakthrough. He was in Seattle negociating a hostile takeover and
dis-memberment of the fabled Microsoft empire, once owned by that other man
with the initial "G".
We all have experienced the frustration of having to code in 128 bit
words, and that is why this new plug-in from Autodesk/GM is so useful. When
Autodesk took over GM last year, it inherited a large number of mainframe
computers. They were brought to Napa California and installed in one of the
wings of the YOST Corporation computer center. This group of processing giants
formed the core of the now famous YOST server which has made the Super RT IPAS
possible.
For the latest update on other IPAS developments, watch for this
column.

I'd love to beta test it for you – my sense of humor needs a kick-start!

Gary,
Maybe something will happen with the Render Jungle. It would be a
start.
Sanford
I see . . so THIS is what you do with you spare time 🙂
Kyle,
The mind is a mysterious organ…just learning to play it.
Sanford
Haven't laughed so hard for days…thanks!
Paul

Gary,
I will eagerly watch for news at 10.

Hey! us Lompoc-ers ( no k ) are proud to be in the forefront of something. The
last big deal around here was when W.C. Fields was in town.
Edward,
Lompoc is one of the towns I enjoy. I must still reside in L.A. to be
near the action. But I will be coming to Lompoc to write and film.
Sanford
Sanford,
When you do make it to Lompoc might I suggest Thai Cuisine on I
street if you like spicy food. If you feel like it give me a ring, Im
in the book. By the way, check out Fly in the images lib. I was
inspired by you.
Ed
Ed,
That's very cool. It will be a couple months before I can make the
trek. I'm in the throws of making criters every free moment. Doin' a Humming
bird that comes up to an Orchid. It sticks in its beak and an angry hiney bee
comes buzzing out and drives it away. Lots of fun fast blur movements.
Sanford. PS I do like Thai Cuisine, and especially Sing
Ha Beer.
Sanford:
I hope you bring some of these great meshes/animations to the User's group
meeting Saturday so we can all 'ohh' and 'ahhh' over them! The hummingbird/bee
sounds great!
Greg Pyros
Greg,
I will bring my workstation. It has a bunch of stuff I can show.
