#question rendering

I can't produce a decent scene without having banding on my objects. I have
tried using high palettes for colors but I still have banding.
What did I do wrong
First of all, what output are you rendering to? If you are going to a flic
file, that is an 8-bit standard, and very likely to induce banding, unless you
have chosen your colors very carfully. If you are set to high pallette modes
and are rendering to a targa, or tiff (for example), there should be no
banding.
Another thing is to consider what color depth you are running at. Are you
looking at these images in 3DS, or in another program? type "3ds vibcfg" at the
dos prompt and make sure your driver settings are set for something other that 8
bit mode for Render-display.
If neither of these suggestions work, you need to upload more information about
your system and your settings in order to diagnose what is wrong.

PMJI, but the 'high pallette' button is ignored by 3DS when rendering to Targas
or TIFFs, in fact, the only time it is looked at is when rendering out to a
FLIC!

I did not know that! (Weird and wild stuff)
Actually, I think I did read that and It went past me, because I have noticed
when I rendered to targas it would still be high color, even when it was set to
low. I just never bothered to figure out why.

thank you for your tip. I will try to save a file and display it on a
24 bit display to see if it is only a problem of color depth. I have
so far tried it on a 16 bit display and I get the problem but I mill
definitly try it on another system

Hi John,
I had a little <g> in my message to Martin. He put RTFM but only wrote
"read the manual." I like to think the F is short for, um, copulating.

Thank you for the tip, I will. I will also try to view my file on a
24 bit display instead of the 16 bit that we own.
