Tom, I have the same toshiba CDRom drive in my 2000. How did you implement
sound? I've been told that I have to connect the output from the back of the
unit to the RCA jacks at the back of the machine. Thanks

Jon: I'm cheating so far. I just use light headphones and plug them in the
front. There is a compnay called Multimedia TTS Systems that makes cables to go
between the CD-ROM and the Sound card (on IBM) and the cable I have I may
decide to butcher so I'd have 3 wires to connect to the RCA jacks, L, R, & gnd.
I haven'y gotten that far yet. Their number is :(800) 887-4968, fax (619)

Ah ha! So therein lies the rub. You may, if you choose, order a cable from
Toshiba (call 800 mumber?) which plugs into back of CDRom. I have one but
alas, it is too short as I chopped some off to get some thin wire with which to
solder some chip pins together.
Do you have an Emplant and if so are you able to access the CDRom audio on the
Mac side? And, if so, how?

Sorry Jon. No Emplant yet. I hate to admit it (shudder) but I use one of those
IBM-type things, too. Twice the hardware; Six times the problems. OS/2 would
be nice if it was a bit more stable, a bit faster and didn't need 50MB hard
disk space! The AMIGA always seems nicer after an IBM session. Tom
