Can any body tell me if their is a main difference between the T2000 and the PAR, I have seen both boards in demo situations but I still don't know which one I want to get. I know the differnce in resoloution, that makes little difference to me and I know the T2000 can have audio, not too much of a problem, I also know the differencce in hardware requirements (ISA EISA etc) and that the 2000 will have RGB aswell as YUV output as apose to the PAR which will not have a component output that my monitor will accept. I want to use the board in a 3d studio enviroment mainly because at the moment I use SoftVtr to record onto Betacam SP or Digital Betacam. Any help in identifying the difference in my situation would be most helpfull

I've never seen the T2000 up close and personal, so I can't compare the two. >> the PAR which will not have a component output that my monitor will >> accept. Strange – "component" is a pretty well-defined standard, works perfectly here. The PAR outputs to either BetaSP or Panasonic MII standards. Or are you saying that your monitor only accepts RGB inputs? Greg Pyros

>>I've never seen the T2000 up close and personal, so I can't compare the two. I've never seen a PAR. Mainly because the PAL implementation is only just becoming a reality. I bought a Targa 2000 about 6 months ago because it was then the only vapour-free PAL option. I had a lot of trouble as you would expect with a new product but now the drivers are more stable and the hardware is as impressive as ever. The PAR is now being extensively advertised in the UK and I have had a few people asking me what I thought of this horizon expanding product. Dilemma!! The PAR is cheaper and probably does a lot of what is needed – but – I like the Targa 2k, would love to see it more widely accepted and better developed, and a lot of Compuserve talk suggests that the Targa 2k has "better" output than the PAR. What do I tell the rest of the world?

Yes, I want to record YUV onto the Betacam and monitor in RGB I didn't really want to put a transcoder in the equation.

Phil: >> Yes, I want to record YUV onto the Betacam and monitor in RGB… I don't know if you really want to do that. What I would do is to take the PAR output to the BetaSP in YUV and then look at the output from the BetaSP deck, preferably YUV, but at least Y/C. More of a WYSIWYG approach. Greg Pyros
