Thanks for the name. I couldn't remember what it was called. Pretty clever
huh? The Apple Pippin. I think you're right that this won't make it as a
set-top box. It may suffer from the same lack of definition as the CDTV.
One thing I appreciate about it is the cpu fire power. Something I always
felt was lacking in Commodore's efforts.

Pippin may find a niche market in large corporations and istitutions who want a
propriatary interactive television system on campus. Indeed, the first
generation Interactive TV (ITV) cable set-top boxes may lack the power and
flexibility needed by clients who may want to do more Interactive PC (eMail,
voicemail, fax, telephony, etc.) applications in addition to ITV. Pippin will
need a very efficient, flexible and native OS to make it worth while.
Certainly the CDTV concept had this capability, but never forseen.

It seems like the Amiga OS was/is a good starting place for an OS in this
market.
