#3D modeling

John,
Sorry you're so touchy about the subject. I know many people who
prefer 3DS to Lightwave and I respect their opinion, as well as
yours. Like anything, it comes down to personal preference. Just
out of curiousity, what type of animation do you do?
>>Sorry you're so touchy about the subject.
Trust me, I'm less touchy than you might think :^). Haven't got a bit
of problem w/Lightwave; if 3ds didn't suit my needs better, Lightwave
would be my program of choice. If I came across as touchy, I
apologise; just felt that your statement was a lot like mine, only
reversed in point of view.
>>Like anything, it comes down to personal preference
Exactly. That's why I didn't make statements against your personal
preference or position; heck, I've even told a few friends to wait
and try both and see which one better suits their needs and
preferences. For me the choice ended up being 3ds; I just ended up
being a lot more productive w/3ds than w/Lightwave (and I'm not
refering to the rendering speed alone as you mentioned).

I currently do graphics, animation, and MM (well, not MM quite yet;
another week or two) for a major Midwest computer manufacter, mostly
geared towards in-house video and training. Perhaps not the most
glamorous job in the world, but I get to do 3d ever day on better
systems than I could afford otherwise, so it's not a total loss :^).
Got some dragon images and two rough flics in GRAPHDEV (unless
they've moved to a new forum)(keyword stetzer or dragon). The best I
feel is TRBLDR.JPG (if I remember the name correctly); reletively
small download, if you take a look at it and have feedback, it might
make it's way into the animation I hope to have ready for next year's
Siggraph. Anything of yours on Cserve I might take a look at? And
what do you do?
>>Enjoy 3DS
You do the same w/Lightwave, and I'll keep dreaming of the day I can
actually justify getting Alias ;^).
Does that mean you work for Gateway?

(insert Looney Tune type voice here) Eeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhmmmmm….could be ;^).

(please don't throw things at me)
And no, none of what I've done is shipping w/the systems, yet.

I've bought a few Gateways over the years, as well as recommending them for
relatives. As soon as I understood that the system I bought today has nothing
to do with the "same" system I'd order next week, I didn't have many problems.
🙂
>>has nothing to do with
Things do tend to change quickly, eh.
