I got VFW111.EXE and ran it on my system. Now the Media Player in Windows
won't run .avi files– it says: "MCIAVI requires a later version of MSVIDEO.DLL
— Please Reinstall Your Video Software". (I thought VFW111.EXE would have
installed a NEWER version of MSVIDEO.DLL!) Then when I clicked "OK" it said
"There is a problem with the device driver — Check with the device
manufacturer about obtaining a new driver". H E L P ! ! ! (Would that I had
backed up my \windows\system directory before running this treacherous .exe
file…!)

VFW11D.EXE – 1.1d – is the newest version to my knowledge. It should also bring
along an enhanced Media Player to enable you to take advantage of the new
formats and codecs.
