I haven't ruled out Mode-X yet. I think I'll work out my 3D engine first, and
then tweak my video routines. I'll keep as much code as "generic" as possible
to make switching as painless as can be.
Thanks for the line code, don't worry about the German: Es sollte
kein Problem sein. Or as ALF used to say: "Null Problemo!" It may
suprise you that my main math reference is "Bartsch: Taschenbuch
Mathematischer Formeln" –I got it at a book store in Metzkausen.
Being from the DDR (at the time) it cost less than 20 DM (not bad for
596 pages) in 1989.
I'm losing my German -from lack of practice, but if you need anything
translated I can help (I hope). I'd probably be better with German ->
English, but who knows?
Where do you live? I'm most familiar with the Dusseldorf region, but I've been
to other cities as well.

Oddly enough, there seem to be a fairly high number of us here who can hack
some Deutsch. I spent a summer many moons ago bumming around Europe with two
friends from Regensburg who refused to speak English. Had a great time.
I was in a campground (in Austria?) when I first heard the Beatles singing "I
Wanna Hold Your Hand" in German. I was sure I was losing my mind.

I know the feeling. When I was there I heard "Die Artze" (I think that's their
name) singing "Walk Like an Egyptian" in German, they made the original seem
serious.

nice to hear from you, that also you speak some german… So I don't have to
rewrite all my comments if I upload sources.
By the way, I'm sure the Beatles never sung in german.. It suppose it was a
german (or austrian) Beatles-Rvival-Band. But some days ago I heared a couple
of abba-songs in chineese…. That was fun!

No, I've since seen the album it was from. It's titled Something New, and the
song was called Komm Gib Mir Deine Hand. The rest of the album's in English.
They always had a special thought for Germany, from their Star Club days.

anything of any importance <g>.
Hmm … is "ue" actually an acceptable alternative to u-umlaut? That's
interesting, I've never seen that done before.
But anyway, we should be discussing Demo stuff.
Frame rate. X-Mode. Color palette rotation. BitBlt. Lookup tables. Lamers.
There, that should do it <g>.

Hi Fred,
ue is the best replacement for the U-Umlaut. It's a shame, that Compuserve
doesn't support the complete ASCII-Character-set. Blockgraphics and german (or
spain) texts look ugly in 7-Bit chars.
I hope that they'll fix it sometimes…

Nils,
CompuServe supports the full 127-character ASCII set – characters from 128 to
255 are _not_ ASCII but are subject to interpretation based on the code page
and platform you're running on.
Good news, though: CIS supports the Latin-1 character set for extended
characters such as umlauts, and has done so for right at a year now. What
software are you running? If it's a bit older, it probably isn't aware of this.
