I'm new to this area. I'm looking for information about companies or products
that can convert existing Beta and 1" archive film/video to AVI, MPEG or like
types of formats. Anyone have some information for me????

Yup!
Optibase… about $14,500 toady
will get you some great cards that will
make really good MPEG stuff or ther are
houses that Optibase is connected with that will
dump MPEG 1… not MPEG 2 (Broadcast stuff) onto a CD-ROM
Pretty neat stuff… You gotta look at delivery rates
when doing this… ie. CD-ROM rates should not go
higher than 250kbs… I have found that even
stuff (video) you deliver from a hard disk has trouble
at 300kbs… when doing ohter things in
Windows… faster drives… New AV Hard drives…
and authoring packages seem to make a lot of difference…
Hope this helps!
