As I understand it, these chips are already packaged.
Not going to be any disabled FPU's there. People will just take their chances.
Not that most people are likely to bump into any real problems, and most
software has been patched to check for the bad chip and offer a better division
routine.
I wonder who will advertise "We got flaw Pentiums!!! Get your flawed
Pentiums!!!"

With an estimate now of $500,000,000 to cover the Pentium fiasco, I kind of
doubt that Intel will miss the extra few million it might take to repackage the
stuff. <G>

I'm talking "ceramic" type package. How do they repackage? Use a saw? <grin>

I think they would be wise just to ditch them. Whoever sells them will have to
admit it, and they will become the butt of serious jokes. They've already
taken the writeoff, they should just ignore the tiny amount of money this
represents and look to improve their image.
They can't afford to go through this again.
Half a billion here and half a billion there soon adds up to real money!
